Kate's Kitchen has been a long standing breakfast diner in the Northland, yet this week was only my second visit ever. Kate's is a solid choice as can be seen by the crowds and the generally favorable reviews. I have nothing to complain about, the large space is clean, menu options are diverse and they seem to deliver standard breakfast options at reasonable prices. My Country Scrambler was adequate is size and flavor, coffee thermos and water pitcher at each table keep the glasses filled and give the waitresses more time to devote to the important things. The place seems to be full of older regulars, blue collar workers, families, business meetings...a real mix of real people - a true slice of America - all wanting a hearty meal and some caffeine to start the day. Kate's does not give me the "wow' factor to make a return trip quickly, but will always be a solid option for a Northland breakfast.
Several visits food is always really good. The bacon is really good, Has a smoky flavor. Waitresses are always friendly and very attentive. Only compliant would probably be the noise level and the prices have crept up with inflation.
Great food fast service. We went on a Sunday at 11am. Still was stay in 15 minutes. ...
My son picked up food for us on a Friday morning. It was very tasty and the portions were generous.
Kate's kitchen is the perfect place for a no frills early morning breakfast. This place reminds you of the local cafe in any small town. I love the bright yellow coffee mugs! I ordered the Red Hot Mamacado scrambler. For $11 it was a very large portion. It came with Chorizo, onion, green chilies, avocado and a combination of Jack & Cheddar cheese. Topped with sour cream and served with salsa, potatoes and choice of toast on the side. I enjoyed every bit of this meal besides the chorizo ( and I love chorizo)! Service was fast and extremely enthusiastic for 8am. Can't wait to come back and try something without the chorizo.
Chloe provided amazing service when I went in on a weekend morning-- I would give 10 stars if I could. I will preface to say that I've been to Kate's twice. The first time left a lot to be desired. I felt like I could have gotten the same quality of food at ihop. But this time, I ordered an omelet with a side of curly fries instead of breakfast potatoes, and it was tasty. The fries could have been more crisp, but I imagine the kitchen was trying to rush orders as fast as possible. I also ordered the biscuits and gravy. The gravy had large chunks of sausage in it that I wished had been broken up more. The biscuits were kind of dry. I prefer a softer texture inside my biscuits, similar to what you'd find in a homemade drop-biscuit. Overall though, I could see myself going back for breakfast. There's usually a long line, so prepare to wait if you go!
On the way to the airport and needing some breakfast, I decided to try Kate's s Kitchen. I knew this place had to be good because every table was full, and there were people waiting in line at 10 am on a Thursday. Waitress Jenna was on it, and my food was served in about 5 minutes. Quickest service ever. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and eggs. Came with sausage gravy over the chicken, a fresh biscuit, and lots of potatoes! There was plenty of food, but I had to add a half order of biscuits and gravy. My eyes were way bigger than my stomach. Everything was cooked to perfection, and chicken fried chicken was absolutely awesome. My only complaint, and it's really not that big of a deal, is Jenna forgot to bring me my large OJ. I had to remind her. And maybe she could've warned me that I was ordering too much food, but that was really my fault. All in all, she did great. She was polite, the place was very clean, the service was quick, and the food was great. Should be 4.5 stars. Definitely recommend.
Great food, great service & ambiance. Cheesy, cheesy, cheesy omelette with brisket was perfect!
I was originally planning to go to Danny's Burger Shack but it was way too busy. Actually this place was pretty busy too but we walked right in because there were bigger parties there and mine was just a party of two. It's only a couple doors down from Danny's. This place is a breakfast and lunch place and when I saw they had eggs Benedict I was on board. It's my very favorite breakfast. We only waited a couple of minutes until the waitress came, and she was very nice. I got the traditional Benedict with Canadian bacon. It came out very fast. So good!! It was cooked perfectly. It came with potatoes and fruit which were also good. I don't often go out for breakfast. It was kind of a late breakfast, but I will definitely be back.
Was looking for a Yelp-worthy breakfast spot after picking my mom up from the airport. Glad we stopped! It was packed but we were still seated quickly & the staff was friendly and efficient. The only downside was that it was quite loud. I enjoyed the corned beef hash Benedict. The sauce was the perfect tang you hope for with a Benedict. The English muffins weren't toasted enough to my liking & were a little soggy so I just mixed the potatoes in with the hash and eggs. My son had the carnitas burrito but felt like the meat wasn't seasoned enough and that there was too much spinach. My other son had the breakfast burrito and claimed it "was the best burrito of his life." Mom had the breakfast quesadilla and loved it. Huge portions all around! Don't skip the cinnamon rolls! Hot, perfect & delicious cream cheese melts frosting. Great family owned restaurant that I would happily visit again when I'm up in the Northland.
